A Plan for Preventing Infant Mortality

First few Article Sentences

Unfortunately, one distinction that sets Ohio apart from other states is our infant mortality rate: It’s one of the highest in the country. Measured by the number of babies per thousand who die before their first birthday, the national average is 6.4, while Ohio comes in at 7.4. And the rate for our African American infants is almost twice as high: 14.3. To put it another way, we lose about 3 babies every week, or 150 every year. That’s 5 kindergarten classes of children.
